Reefing main

The way I did mine on a Catilina 27 was; start by tying your line (I believe I used 5/16) to the eye on the starboard boom all the way aft and go throught the grommet on your main sail on the leech to the block on the port side. Mine continued forward on the port side to another block under the boom to a cleak located on teh forward side of the starboard boom. I reefed both grommets but I don' think I will ever need the upper one. Also you have grommets going from the leech to the luff about 4. Each of these I tied a line with a knot on both sides of teh main sail with enought length to tie the sail to the boom. Hope this helps.

Get the CD Book

If you are new to the C22 world you should call Catalina Direct and get their C22 parts book. They are a great source for parts and some of the pages, such as the one on reefing, have diagrams that explain things. They are on the web at catalinadirect.com Randy

Reefing Lines

Hello Chillers: The 1987 C22 Owners Manual has illustrations of reefing lines. Two line & single line. I have the page on my computer but cannot post a .gif image. The manual is online, can't remember where I downloaded it from. Some illustrations show the aft cheekblock too far forward. It needs to be far enough aft to act as the outhaul too. Regards, Bob B.

Single line reefing

Check out the Harken website. They have downloadable manuals for a single line reefing system that I installed. It works great. Reefing the main now takes seconds, and all is done from the cockpit.
