reefing lines

I have a 1988 432. When I bought the boat the owner decided to remove the reefing lines. I was just wondering how and what it looks like to work. I live in Hawaiii and the wind blows here hard. So I need to reef the main. Anything willl help? New to Beneteau and a 43' boat.

Question: do you have turning blocks on the main - on both the leech and luff side? That will make a difference in the response

Are you hoping to fit single line reefing? This is how it's arranged on my Oceanis 31 using low friction blocks, it works well, and is quick and safe.
