We have not reefed our h260 yet and all the rigging is new, we have installed the Rams head on the goose neck and have a diagram of the reef line threaded through the boom through the clew reef grommet and back to the boom, are the two mid sail grommets just simply tied around the boom with 1/4 line, does anyone have a pic of that?

tie at your own risk

A lot of folks, including me, won't recommend that you tie those mid sail grommets with anything. You will risk ripping your sail if you do. There is no practical need to do so.

I have a ripped sail due to tying the sail down through the grommets.

The grommets are there for a reason. To tie up the slab of sail. But use caution. Tie around the boom with plenty of slack and be very mindful when shaking out the reef.

So just the clew and the gooseneck grommet and thats it? Yep, that's all you need to do. It isn't as neat as tieing, but removes the risk of tearing a sail because you tied it and failed to remove the tie prior to shaking out the reef.

Thanks for asking the question! Just bought a 270 and would not have known this.
