I've spent a lot of time on the net trying to find the right furler for my 30. Does anybody have some feed back on these furlers? I really can't afford Harken and need a more reasonably priced furler. I currently have a headfoil, but am tired of making so many changes. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS.

I recently changed my old CDI for a hood. It was not that expensive and it works great!!

Might check out Schaffer

They're usually what comes stock on Catalinas. Sorry, don't know the pricing. CDI is, of course, the least expensive option but keep in mind, sometimes you get what you pay for. I do know several people that have them & they work just fine. Good luck! LaDonna

If you get one off the net you can have a nice system for about 1200. Cheaper than harken, but actually better with sealed bearings. I have one and like it much more than my harken on my last boat. If you want a rugged system for real sailing then you have to pay more. I don't think the cheaper ones would hold up very long in severe conditions. If you lake sail in winds up to 15 Knots then it likely does not matter. Someone near me has the flex furl one on a 30 and basically things keep breaking in our conditons. A normal summer day here is winds of 20 to 30 knotts so we do test the equipment.
