Hi out there, The reefer drain into the bilge is a pain. I was thinking of putting a small Rule pump in the line and attach it directly to the gally drain. Since its only a reefer drip it would only need to be switched on a few times a week. Rule makes a "sealed"(both in and out) pump for bait wells that looks like it might work. A shot of clorox once a month would keep the unpleasant stuff at bay. Anybody try this? Thanks Bruce

Just get a sump.

Bruce: Have you considered a shower sump. This is a small container that has a pump in it. Built just for this type of thing. They run about $100-120. Just the ticket if it will fit.

Good Idea

Yes, I did the same thing. I used a zero head pump and put a switch at the nav station.

With the same problem on my '81 H33 I first

solved the problem by installing a hand pump at the galley sink, hooking the drain hose to that and a dozen strokes on the hand pump drained the reefer right into the sink. Last year I removed the hand pump and installed a small electric pump/faucet in the same hole and now we turn it on twice a weekend and it's done. I'm just sorry I didn't do this 12 years ago when I bought the boat.

Same solution as Steve's

A prior owner installed a hand pump to the kitchen sink from the bottom of the ice box. By the way, if it's clean (from melted ice for instance) the cold water in the bottem of the box provide substantial cooling capacity. So we leave it there when ice is scarce or expensive. David Lady Lillie
