On a fractional rig 130/188, what do you think would be a good reduction for the first reef on the main? The jib is roller furled so it can be adjusted for balance. The boat is tender and to sail flat ,starting with the right match between canvas and wind seems to be quite important.

One-third
Less is more when it comes to reefing. All boats are different, but try this.Test the process with a one-third reduction of each sail, preferably at the dock.
If that proves too conservative, you can always let out the jib and proceed.
