Was considering having a second reef point put in my Doyle sail (’98 H26). Anything I should be aware of in doing so? A suggested location? I have a roller furling for the jib, so that’s taken care of. Also, does Doyle make a cruising spinnaker that would fit the H26? Thanks

Adding a Reef

Michael, Installing a second reef is fairly straightforward. Usually second reefs are positioned at a point between 12-15% of luff length measured up from the tack. If you have a cheek block on your boom for the second reef line, make sure that the reef clew ring ends up forward of this point when the sail is in its reefed configuration. You can give you local sailmaker the distance measured from the mast to your block on the boom in order to make sure the reef is installed correctly. Doyle sailmakers APC, or Asymmetrical Power Criuser, is simple to use, especially when set with a dousing sock or sleeve. this sail performs both as a spinnaker and reaching genoa, without the need for a spinnaker pole. Good Sailing, Bill Colombo, Doyle SF

Cruising Chute

I will be ordering a "Radial Head Flasher with Stasher" throught the HOW store for this year's sailing. It has been recommended by several fellow H26 drivers. See the sails lis t at the HOW Store section. This sail is listed at $875 and is apparently performs well on the H26. Good luck...good sailing. Regards: Dean Taylor..."Arctic Mist"

Sometimes I wish...

...I had a smaller boat. Same sail for the H31 is $1,924, which, of course, means I won't get to sail with one this next season. Maybe, oooooh, say 2005 is a good year for that.
