I am making reef lines for the main on my O'day 25. After searching on this site and Google, I cannot find what length I should make each rope. I am planning on making these permanent reef lines, so I'll need to account for the knot on each side to keep them put. What length should I make each line?

Thank you for the help.:D

The boat is on its trailer right now with the mast down. I cannot determine the lengths of these lines on my own right now. I have some time tonight and wanted to make these lines before I put the boat in the water tomorrow. Help would definitely be appreciated.

You could probably do your measuring even with the mast down, couldn't you?

The critical measurements would be the main foot and tack to 1st reef, boom to mast, then down to the deck and over to the cockpit.

I think.

I have two internal halyards in my mast and three internal control lines inside my boom. Whenever I need to replace them I just attach a strong heavy nylon string to the ends of them and pull them right out leaving the strings in for tag lines. I only have one reefing line and it's in my boom. The other two are for the clew out-haul, and topping lift.

I use Sta-Set X braid line for most of these lines and for me, it's best to get the thicknesses and lengths right the first time with no guess work. involved.

If someone gives you a length, don't forget your's could be different. When I got a new main the reef points were a couple / few feet higher then the "stock" sail and the old reef lines were too short. I would suggest measuring if at all possible.
