Hey everybody! Is anyone else tired of the terribly inconvenient stern layout on their 25.5? Steph and I decided to rehab ours and here is the end result of our ideas. We are trying to put a photojournal of the changes in the photo-project section but are having a bit of a problem uploading photos. (...is anyone else having this problem??) We will keep trying!

Boy, do you have crap in that 25 footer. With all the money you have spent you could be sailing in a 33 footer.

Thats pretty harsh, isn't it. Looks pretty good to me, Brian. Would definitly like to know more about project. I have often thought the rear end of my H23 could use some help.

Why the upgrade (but looks great!!)

Brian, I looked at your excellent accounts of travels to the bahamas and was really impressed with your fold up swim platform. So much so that Im designing one for my H23. My question is why you upgraded? Did you find that the folding approach wasn't stable enough? The new one you have looks like it could survive a hit with a Mac truck? Thanks for sharing your upgrades, ideas and travels with us. /Chuck S/V Windsongs '85 H23

the reason we redesigned the stern...

...is that we needed a "true" swim platform. We had been getting along ok with the starboard one we had constructed to hang from the ladder at the waterline, but it was small, noisy, and clumsy to use at times. Since we use the platform for showering, dinghy transfer (provisions), swimming, diving ...etc, the old system had become difficult. You probably would not guess at the appearance, but the new system is LIGHTER by 24 pounds than the old system, due to the fact that we used aluminum and foam. We are still working on the new tiller for the rudder post. I will post a new pic of it when it is complete. We should have the entire log of the redesign in the project forum soon. ...and for the record, we will keep the idea that we could have a "33 footer" when we are anchored up in a remote location and our big-boat friends have to ask us for fresh water, extra fuel for their genset, need to use our HAM radio ...etc, etc. Larger than 30 feet means more money for the boat and less for "optional" equipment such as a watermaker, communication sequipment, and the like.

Uploading Photos

Brian, I had a problem uploading photos and found out it was my Norton Internet Security firewall that was preventing it. I disabled it to do the upload and I am OK.

please post link

Brian, As a former owner of a 25.5 I also enjoyed your photos of your Bahama trip. I have however lost the links to the trip. I managed to find part two, but part 1 eludes me. could you post the link to it for me again. p.s. I think you did a fine job on your boat! those that don't know the 25.5 shhhh! (don't tell her), she thinks she is 30 feet. thanks James Breland

Leg Breaker

Could a human foot slip between the tubing that makes up the "floor" of the platform? Looks like a real leg breaker to me....
