i use the red light setting quite a bit on my C380 #379 2003. The problem is that the replacement bulbs that are available through west marine and boat us do not stay red very long. i was wondering if anyone has a source for a bulb with a more durable coating. someone once told me you could buy light bulb paint at a theatrical supply.....i wonder how many bulbs you could paint with a quart?

Get a red LED bulb from an automotive store.

Go to an automotive supply store and buy a replacement LED bulb for the light. It is brighter, uses less electricity and will last practically for ever. It also goves a more pleasant red light but it is more expensive that a regular red bulb.

Nail polish

I think Island Dayo's response is best, but for a quick fix I think you can use red nail polish to convert a regular bulb to red.

Not Nail Polish

Red nail polish is opaque and drastically reduces the light output of the lamp. It doesn't last long either. Like our C.I. friend says, use the Red LED's. Gord
