red tape

Hello, I am searching for a replacement tape for my 272 for the red vinyl
tape just above the water line on the 272's....it appears to be 3/4 inch wide
and also is shiny, like vinyl...cannot find in the Defenders or West marine
catalogs. the existing tape has lasted 26 years....that's really great lifespan.

Thanks for your help....Have not looked at the D & R Marine website yet.

You might try an auto parts store and see if their auto stripng tape would work. Not sure about 3/4" width, but maybe they can order that width. I accented around my 222 with 1/4" red next to the factory blue striping and it looks great. Plus it is made to stand up to some pretty harsh elements.

Mine was shot when I got my boat.Went to auto parts store and found 3/4 inch red tape but was pricey.I ended up painting it with Interlux "Fire Red".It looks great.A friend recommended masking off with Scotch Magic Tape from office supply store.It is cheap and worked as well as the expensive fine line tapes I've used in the past.This paint is also tough.I compounded over it with a buffer the next day with no problems.

How did you get the spacing right? Or rather, how did you apply the accent strip?
