Back in the mid 70's
on a lake in South Carolina (Lake Wateree) a club held an annual fund raiser called the "Bath Tub Regatta". Any thing that had a bath tub (cast iron or fiber glass or plastic) making the primary displacement qualified for entry. Propulsion was open to any thing- sail, paddles, oars, trolling motors, outboards, and I think I recall an inboard. Many entries never left the starting line; some never even made the start, and the progress over the course was sheer chaos, but at the end of the day EVERYONE involved had fun on the water. This is the point of the original post.Steve Kamp
