Take a look at the Flojet VSD pump. We normally cannot hear our running. Ours has been installed for over 8 years. They are available from trailer/camping supplies for much less than your local marine store.

We had the same issue, bought the Shurflo 3901-0216 3.0 GPM, 55psi for less than $100.

Flojet mentioned by Steve are rated as better pumps, cost more, most likely.

There are a wide variety available to you. WM Advisors cover it all. The straight swap with pressure sensing gets you the on/off same as before when you open a tap. The Variable Flow ones are quieter. I didn't see the need, since we turn ours off at night, and if there's any sort of leak, the pump operation becomes a tell tale.

Your boat, your choice. :)

I bought the Shurflo 4158-153-E75 AQUA KING II from Discount Marine Supply a couple of years ago. Its very quiet and I like the increased flow rate over my old 2.8 gallon model. It draws less current with more flow.
