Has anyone had a good experience with using a professional trucking outfit to transport a sailboat a long distance across the country? I'm located in the northwest and am considering purchasing a sailboat in the midwest or northeast coast and having it hauled here. Around 35-40 feet. Thanks for your help.

Alan, after searching my records all morning, I

found it. The carrier moved our boat from Ft. Lauderdale to my backyard in Seabeck Wa. for $6331.38 (after a $126 discount for a delay). Our boat is a H34 and the price was for the mast and dinghy too. (a 11.5ft Avon RIB) They 'did us right'! The price was 25% under anybody else. The invoice is from Carroll Fulmer & Co. (407)229 0900. The carrier is Nationwide Boat. The name says it all. Tell them that I sent you. (very pleased) This is the first chance I've had to do so. Good luck

Try Ocean Offshore

I've used two outfits to date one I would not recommend and one I would. Ocean offshore (207)833-5759 located in South Harpswell, Maine did a good job and seamed to be very competitive with thier rates. You could also try Dolfin Marina. They are related to offshore and I would think would also do a good job (207) 833-5343.

Deep Water Transport

I've used Deep Water Transport, for two boats in the past three years. Great service, and no problems. 800 382-2628. Good luck.
