Recommendation for a Deisel Mechanic Needed, LI- N

I;m looking for a good deisel mechanic for my old 9 HP yanmar (1978 GM model). The marina I use doesn't seem interested in deisel work. Motor runs great but the transmission slips. I replaced the plates last winter but the problem is back. Mack Boring and Torrensen are great for parts and advice but at this point I need a professional. I'm in Huntington NY on LI. Howard,The GM series started production in 1980. The 1GM was manufactured from 1980-83 but was only 7.5hp The 9hp (1GM10) came out in 1983. Unless you repowered you probably have the SB8. The SB8 is 8hp and was manufactured from 1976-80. The YSE8 and YSB8 were made prior to 1978.My 1979 H27 has the SB8 and I do all my own work. I have heard good things about the three I have listed. Howard - Long Island Yacht Service (631 549-4687) is a Yanmar dealer. They are on West Shore Rd in Huntington, opposite West Shore Marina. As a new Yanmar owner, I've found them to be very helpful, although I haven't needed any work done on my Yanmar (yet).Also, Long Island Yacht Sales (not related) in Bay Shore (631 665-5144) is a Hunter dealer, and I believe a Yanmar dealer as well.
