Strongest tape - no residue

I shrinkwrap my own boat every year and the shrinkwrap tape is amazing stuff. It holds very well, survives the UV rays for the season, and doesn't leave a residue when you pull it off. It comes in many different widths, I like the 4" stuff myself. Although more expensive than painters tape, it will last for the toughest of jobs.

Ralph, looks like you and I are in the minority but I thought shrink wrap tape would be the perfect thing for the job !! I guess they don't use too much shrink wrap in California (I think that is where Brian is from) It is minimally more expensive then 3 m tape (couple of dollars per roll)
Brian, I went to 3 m web site and could not find anything about using it outside long term, will be interested in your "test", keep us posted on long term results also please

I'd agree that shrinkwrap tape is good stuff...but I just don't know how available it is in So. Cal. Up here in New England, almost every chandlery has it lying around this time of year. :) The 3M stuff is pretty good and I've used it outdoors, in the weather on a boat for over five weeks, and it held up quite well, and came off cleanly. It's pretty much available anywhere in the continental US...
