Hi, I am planning on refreshing my yanmar 3GM3OF control panel. My boat is a 1987 Goman Express 35. I'll be purchasing part 128170-91010, Panel Housing and the gasket 128170-91020. I'll also be replacing the engine stop cable...everything else will be kept. However, the part of the control panel that really needs to be replaced in the plastic recessed housing and acrylic guard. There are cracks and not enough plastic left for the panel screws to grip, hence the washers.

Is this part specific to my boat manufacturer? Where can I order a replacement? If I can't, what are some ideas to create a new recessed housing for my new panel?

In case you are wondering, green pull to the left turns an engine compartment blower on/off...engine stop pull is hard see but is in-between the tach and fuel gauge. I understand the fuel gauge was installed aftermarket as the standard type b panel does not have one.

Thank you!

The standard panel has a warning horn/buzzer in the location of your fuel gauge.. It is loud enough that it was probably moved just behind the panel .. or replaced by a small electronic buzzer.. The cracks are most likely because of a stiff shut-off cable ; pulling hard on the shut-off will crack the black panel.. Seems like I've seen the recessed box for sale somewhere but I can't remember where.. You might search "cockpit combing box" Also check Moyer Marine, they have some recessed boxes that may be correct.. Measure caerfully..

Instead of trying to replace the whole panel you could consider making a frame for the outside of the existing panel that would cover the cracked portions. Or you could just make a strip that would cover the bottom where the mounting holes are. Look for some thin black plastic like plexiglass, or a thin black plastic cutting board.

A frame with a rebate that fits neatly over the present panel will do the job.
Either Starboard or 3D printed.
Here is a basic drawing.

Another alternative is you could patch up the cracks etc with some epoxy (G-Flex would be good) and maybe a little glass, spray paint it with plastic compatible paint (Rustoleum) and it would look like new and fit perfectly.

Hi...thank you everyone for the ideas! Lots to consider. At this stage I'm kind of liking the patch/paint/replace option for the white recessed surround and then buy a new yanmar panel ($45 or so). Might be the path of least resistance and ensures a perfect fit. I'll let you know how it turns out :)

Where can you get a Yanmar panel for $45?
Or do you mean the clear plexiglass cover?

The panel I'm referring to is the plastic black rectangle in the photo. For me it's part number 128170-91010

Here is one example of where to purchase. Tax, shipping, gasket, etc will take it beyond $45 but close enough.
