Recently purchased a 1974 2-29 - question about cabin interior

The boat hadn't been used for a couple of years, and we pulled all the cabin cushions out except for a few backrests since the canvas bottoms had become moldy. We've been airing them out at our house, and have decided not to replace them but rather just to put some easily removable rubber-backed mats and patio cushions in the boat.

I'm inclined to just throw the old cushions away, but am thinking I need to keep them to use as patterns if I ever decide to have them remade in the future to bring the boat back to its original configuration. Any suggestions? Does anyone have patterns for them? They take up a lot of space, so I'd rather not have to store them indefinitely.

take out the insides and keep the covers=--they should be zippered....cushions can be made from the covers and the covers store well..just make sure they are clean.....

Our cushions were musty and smelled of mold. We used a product recommended by Peggie Hall to treat the foam and covers for all of cushions. I purchased a gallon of the KO made by Raritan and sprayed everything with it. Laid everything out in the sun for the better part of the day. Took several days but over a period of time it worked. We had talked about buying new foam but after checking the cost decided to give this a shot. If your foam is no longer firm you'll most likely want to replace the foam but do keep it to use for a pattern.
