I find Hunter's recall of ball valves interesting. The recall says, "Failures have taken place when the ball valve stem corrodes prematurely leaving the handle unable to close the internal ball. If the valve cannot close, the connections may lead to water entry." I never saw anything like this for the old Hunter 34's, which came with gate valves that lasted less than 3-4 years. I hope anyone that owns a Hunter 34 has replaced all the gate valves that orriginally came with the boats. I saw too many H34's of friends that had gate valves, which froze up, in an unknown position (open, closed or inbetween). I replaced all mine with marlon seacocks in 1985 when I first hauled the boat. I'm glad I did.
