Here's our VIRE 7 after being rebuilt. We pulled the motor out last fall. Over the winter I pulled the gearbox off, replaced one bearing and put in three new seals(the gear oil was emulsifying due to leaky water pump seals). I also put in new points and new freeze plugs. I started her in the backyard on a temporary motor mount set-up.....she ran great! With a fresh coat of high-temp. paint.....she's ready to be re-installed. For safe measure, I'll also have the starter/generator rebuilt(new brushes, etc.) and have the voltage regulator checked at the same time. For anyone looking to work on their VIRE motor.....they are very straight forward and easy to work on. I'm no mechanic and I had no problem.Spring is on the way....Happy Sailing!
