My Atomic-4 inboard gas engine on the 1982 Catalina 27' is dead and needs to be rebuilt or replaced. I am not sure if I should just give up the inboard engine and install a new outboard engine? Or I should have my A-4 engine rebuilt? Or can I find another different brand engine for Catalina 27'? I welcome any comments or suggestions. Thanks, Leon E-mail: lohkuoliang@yahoo.com

A4

I believe Universal makes a diesel that will replace the A4. It all depends on how much you want to spend. Go to Moyermarine.com for information on Atomic 4's. There are good engines...should run for ever.

beta diesel

Beta marine also makes a direct replacement diesel- about $5000-6000, plus parts

Cost?

Thanks, Joe It seems that I got not many choices but rebuilding A-4. May I know how much did it cost you? There is a shipyard asking for $5,000 including towing, hull-out and engine rebuilt. Is it a fair price? Leon
