Rebedding Tow Rails on Chrysler 26

Question. I am partially restoring a 78 Chrysler 26. I am at the point of rebedding the toe rails. I wanted to confirm that it is important not to seal the tow rail to the deck since it seems like water flows from between the deck and the toerail and through holes on the bottom of the toe rail. I was just planning on putting new sealant along the joint between the deck and the hull.

Thanks!

Probably need a photo to properly comment.

on my O’Day 322, the aluminum toe rail has holes in it to let the water drain, it the base of the toe rail is bolted and caulked to the deck.

you might be able to see it in this phot...

You don’t have problems of water pooling due to the toe rail being bedded with caulk?
