rebedding chainplates

What's the best way to rebed my chainplates? I have one on the starboard side that seems to be less rigid than the others. There are also some spiderweb looking cracks around the chainplate. Can I assume that I have wet core in this area? Also, does anyone know how the deck is constructed on an O'day? (total thickness of deck?, core material?, what are the bolts attached to?) Mark

My O'Day 22 has a deck core that is about 3/8 of an inch thick (Its soggy so its tough to tell). Tap on the deck with your knuckles or a rubber hammer - if it sounds hollow or different from the rest of your deck its probably wet or delaminated. If its solid it will feel and sound solid (You'll be able to tell). The core is probably wood, maybe balsa or plywood. I'm not sure what else O'Day used. Good luck.

I'll clarify that, the only spot I've measured on my core was soggy, not the whole deck. If thats the case you've got real problems.
