Hello, Would it be possible for two people to rebed all of the hardware on a "stock" oday 25 in two weekends or about 32hours??? This boat has a full cabin headliner. I'm looking at a boat that needs hardware rebedding and I'll only have a few weekends to do it before it would go to a marina that doesn't allow repairs to be done in the slips. It all depends on which fittings you want to rebed and how extentive the repairs are. It's one thing if you just remove everthing and put on new sealant. Its obviously more work to also drill out the core and refill with expoxy before rebedding the fittings. If you also want to rebed all the teak such as the hand rails and hatch slides, that a weekend job in itself (speaking from experience). I'd say two competent people could do the non-teak fittings with new epoxy in two weekends if they worked at it. With teak, probably not. Brad

I would look at each fitting inside and out and make a plan. Some parts take two people to reinstall. Remember, Don't let the bolts turn, just tighten the nuts on the inside. It will void your work and will leak again. Another hint... After removing all hardware, countersink the exterior part of the hole in the deck. When rebedding this will give the bedding compound some thickness to work as it should. Make sure both parts are clean before reconnecting or the new seal will be as good as the old bedding. When I rebed, I buy all new fasteners. I would plan on a trip to pick up fasteners after you know what you need. I buy new because first trying to clean them is extremely time consuming. Second often they were cut off after installation and the nut doesn't want to go back on. Third, I replaced all nuts with the nylon aircraft style nuts. I would also look at your backing of each connection and if it is not up to par, plan on making backing plates. Some places you may only get SS fender washers on. As it sounds, there is alot of work but make a plan and you should be good. If you are planning to do the bright work, buy Teak plugs. You will not save them. r.w.landau

I'm sure you two will be able to do the job if you work methodically as the guys suggest. I'm just wondering about a marina that does not allow repairs to be made at the slip. I find a lot of enjoyment in going to the slip and messing around with little jobs, like rebedding, or running new lines, whatever. Almost but not quite as much fun as actually sailing. It's also inspiring to see others working on their boats, and to shoot the breeze with them about whatever odd improvement they're doing. Maybe you don't want the guy in the next slip swapping out an engine, but slathering some goop on a leaky fitting? Jeez.
