rebed winches

in order to rebed the cabin top winches , or any other for that matter, does the outer cover need to come off, or can one just remove the nuts on the overhead and lift off the winch, so to speak??. thanks to whom ever. fair winds to ya.

Yep. The outer cover must come off in order to get a grip on the screw heads and remove the nuts that secures the winch base. Once the base is off you can clean it and replace the sealant.
