We have some minor leaks in the outboard compartments on both the port and starboard side. As far as I know, nothing has been rebed since the boat was first purchased in 1991. We bought it last year. To eliminate the leaks, we have decided to rebed the deck hardware.Last October, we rebed the genny tracks, which looked like they could use it. Before restepping the mast, we would like to rebed the protective/decorative disks that connect the chainplates to the shrouds. There are three philips head machine screws that attach each disk to a chainplate. I am assuming the screws fit into tapped holes in the chainplates. It appears that all we need to do is remove these screws, clean the deck and the disk, rebed and reattach. These screws will probably be as difficult to remove as were the screws in the genny track, but with the right tools, patience and a little help it can be done.My question: Is there anything else we need to know when removing the chainplate disks or is all there is to it are the three screws per side?
