I new owner of a 1985 H31. She is now dry docked with mast unstepped. I am rebedding deck hardware before the spring splash. I have removed the chainplate/struts. This is a one peice affair that screws into an iron hull member that is behind the cabin liner behind each settie. After the strut is screwed all the way down, the welded chain plate is aligned with the screw holes in the deck secured with four screws. Is there a more elegant way of replacing the bedding other than glopping a pile of it under the chain plate and rotating the chain plate/strut until it makes contact with the deck. During the last several turns of the strut I am assuming I will have a real mess from all of the bedding compound that squishes out and not sure if there will be any dry spots left unbedded.
