Skipper, I didn't miss the sustained growth aspect. Instead I exercized the option of working only as much as I needed to sustain my lifestyle.

So, I'm the only one who has ever complained about "marine" rates? Whenever I complain about it, I'm arrogant? Give me a break.

So, you just pay whatever they ask?

I in fact do NOT get what I pay for, if I am shopping in the Rodeo Drive of boat vendors. I've already had multiple others in a separate post state that their canvas people are hugely less than Annapolis.

And, 4x means 4x. I don't understand your confusion. They gave the time required, then the price. I did the math. I was actually a little conservative in their favor.

Again, anyone who has a boat in Annapolis knows what I'm talking about. And I'm not the first to mention it, or regarding similar harbors around the country.

By the way, did you used to own an old Tartan 27? Your name sounds familiar - I'm originally from SoCal.

Skipper, I sometimes do 'just pay what they ask', in lots of areas of life. I also discuss and negotiate if it seems reasonable. A fellow came to quote some construction at my home, we discussed how long it would take, how much the materials would cost and his hourly rate. We came to an agreement and I paid what he presented at the end. 3 months later I hired him again to do some repairs on a rental we have and he presented his bill of $150 and I was shocked! I wrote a check for $200 and it was a bargain at that. I went into a poster and art store and decided on two pictures of boats that I wanted matted and framed. I noted when I walked in that there seemed to be just one person working. We got everything together, and I said, 'I'll pay cash now for everything if you can do it all for $200. He got a very hurt and frustrated look on his face and said "I am the owner, I do really good work, and I do it myself. I don't have any employees so that I can give the best prices and give you good quality work. I have given you my best price.' I felt I had insulted him, and I did. He had my pictures ready when he said he would, and the work was really nice quality. I learned something from that.

Don't get the issue with paying others more (per hour) for their product than you make (per hour). That would be a pretty tough way to look at life I'd think. Maybe I'm just not that educated, intelligent or talented

Nope, we have never had a Tartan but I like the older ones quite a bit......and not sure what name sounds familiar, ours or our boat! There are a few First Lights around :)
