Anyway, its early AM in Florida and the weather is so so, the boat is ready and the motor is not. I am ready to oar the boat out to sea. So I get the new 6 ply tires for the trailer and while jacking the trailer up my axle iron starts crunching. High tide is 9:35 AM. I am two blocks from a small lake and 6 miles to the gulf. Prudence dictates I take it to the lake and get the trailer welded if I can. I hate this plan, I would rather chance the 6 miles to the gulf and if I get stuck on the gulf while the trailer is fixed. Even if I wouldn't have a motor. Anyone have any words of wisdom or suggestions to me and other sailors that will lose their motors at some time this year. I am calling a welder this morning before I move the boat and hope he comes out and welds some iron to re inforce. The spot is just 6 inches from the u bolts. I know you people up north aren't feeling sorry for me if I have to wait a few more days inasmuch as I have ben readingthe posts waiting for spring. Bring it on. Regards Bud

Prudence would say go buy a new axle and put it on while the motor gets fixed. On the other hand you could drag it to the water splash it and have the wife drag the trailer off to get fixed. Ask her to pick up some beer on the way back with the trailer 'cause you'll be thirsty by then. BTW I have an axle for you if you want to come and get it.

I like onthe othr hand idea. she leaves me and takes the trailer to get repaired and then pick up the motor on weds. then come and get me on saturday. wait, tell her to bring more beer on tuesday. Then get me on saturday. thanks mate Too bad it wasn't last week, my son did a job in pensacola and I would have taken you up on the axle if it by chance was the righ one.

I picked up a Sunfish for my daughter in Fort Lauderdale and spent the night in Tampa at MacDill on the way home. I could have dropped it off for you. It is the stock axle for the 23.5 trailer. Tell you wife there is a big sale at the outlet mall in Destin and to pick it up before she comes home. On second thought it might be cheaper to just buy a new trailer. Holler if you want it I need to get rid of it but can't bring myself to just throw it away.
