I have a 2018 Mercury 9.9 which I used the summer of 2018 and then winterized it to factory specs for the winter. I didn’t use the motor this summer, 2019, remained on the stand in the garage. Do I need to winterize the motor again for this coming 2019-20 winter?

Up here in the Great White North I run the engine in fresh water until the carb. runs dry. It's worked for years. I don't think you need to re-do a job already done but if it makes you feel better........

There should be no residual gas on the carburettor
Before turning off the engine, unplug the gas hose and let the engine run until it stops due to no gas remaining in the carburettor.

I had heard it had a shelf life too. I probably should throw mine out.
Website stated two year shelf life after opening as well. Some older formulas will develop crystalized flakes. Newer formulas will turn darker red. Looks like I need to toss mine out as well!

Most small engines, including both my mercury outboards (4hp & 9.9HP) , my snow blower and my honda generator have a drain screw to drain the last drops of gasoline from the carburetor bowl. I always do that before storing it for the winter.
