Re: What type of glue THANKS TO ALL

That was a fine thread.

A question to the "glue experts" --- is Gorilla Glue good on starboard material?

Re: What type of glue THANKS TO ALL

Its like the old joke about teflon...nothing sticks to it so how do they get it to stick to the bottom of the aluminum pan?

Starboard is a tough one to glue. It is very similar to teflon in that regard. Here is a link to some discussion about the subject. http://www.kingplastic.com/2011/06/using-adhesive-with-king-starboard/

I still remember when I worked at Raychem back in the early 70's when we wanted to paint polyethylene and found the only way was to surface treat it first with one of the following 1) plasma etch, 2) flame ionization, or 3) chromic acid treatment. Give one of those a try and I'm sure it will work fine LOL

Re: What type of glue THANKS TO ALL

I am a carpenter and use a lot of AZEK products. This stuff in my world has all kind of names cause different companies, call it by different name. Allied roofers co calls theirs restoration trim board, all are a PVC coated product I believe with the same properties as Starboard. I had simalar problems with exterior trim, large crown mouldings made from this, you need to glue the cuts and joints. I used their very expensive glue, and after smelling it and checking the things in it it appears to be plumbers PVC glue. Same can with the applicator ball attached to the lid,I use this now and it seems to be the same. Red
