My cooler drains into the bilge and I am working on designing something to change it to drain into the sink hose, Catalina says they don't do it that way anymore (What a suprise!) Any ideas?
If by cooler you mean the ice box, the c30 tech manual lists a fix using a small PAR water pump and a momentary switch. Attach the pump to the drain line, run the outlet to the cockpit, then mount the momentary switch where you can watch the cockpit drain. Hold down the switch until the water stops. I haven't made the improvement yet, but it is on my "to do" list. John G
Sorry I didn't specify, but it's a 30, and it is the ice box. Thanks for your replies. I'm trying to imagine how to run a perment outlet hose to the cockpit.I like this idea John. Where did you get a tech manual? I've been trying to get a parts locator list from Cat. but they are redoing it, and it's unavailable till next mo.
Chris, E-mail me at JohnGnMB@aol.com and I will find the article in my manual and send you a copy. What I can remember of the project was pretty simple. Get the smallest water pump you can find (I found a PAR in an RV store for $55.00. Think I can do better). Hook that pump to the drain in its present location. Run a line from the outlet to the cockpit. Wire the pump to a momentary switch located near the companion way so you can hold the switch down while watching the water flow into the cockpit. When the water stops, release the switch. The article mentioned making a small screen over the inlet so bits of paper and food or whatever don't clog the pump. Good luckJohn
