Where is the best, or at least, good place to get to a supermarket in Narragansett Bay from a cruising boat? Hopefully, it would not involve overnight marina dockage and stores would be within easy walking distance or a short cab ride.

Ever considered having a bike on board with a basket? It's amazing what you can haul on one with enough bungee cords. Hehe sorry No advice on locations.
Newport and Wickford markets are a short cab ride. Bristol has a small one within walking distance. Jamestown has a very small market in the harbor.
Wickford's the only place I know, and not that well because I live 100 miles away in central Mass, but that's where you should have tried. The 'town dock' that was mentioned elsewhere is a free tie up right downtown which has a CVS type store with most stuff you would want. About a mile away on rt 1 (not 1a that goes through downtown) is Daves that has anything you could possibly want including made to order hot food.

Newport, Bristol are about the easiest to get to the grocery stores from. From the Newport wharves it is not even a mile to the stop and shop. Plus numerous smaller markets along the way. Launch service is available from the moorings in the harbor in Newport, the harbor master was very helpful to us when we stopped there on our way out.

Rich is Right. Bristol is your best bet. Newport is OK but it is too congested most of the time.
You could anchor out over near the area by the Herreshoff Dock or maybe tie up at the town dock near the park and small fire station.
I love Bristol. It was always one of my favorite stops when I needed stores.

In Jamestown about 1/2 mile uphill from the marina in Dutch Harbour. Turn right at the intersection. Pam and I have done that provisioning run several times.
