I just acquired a H 28.5. The top of the folding table in the cabin needs refinishing. It does not look like teak. I wonder what's the best way to go about it. Do I refinish it just like the other part of the cabin wood work?? Any help would be appreciated.

Refinishing the Table Top

The method and materials you use to refinish the table top is pretty much left up to you. Hunter does use Daley's finish products on the boat. If I was to refinish my table top I would strip the old finish off with a good liquid stripper. I would then very lightly sand the top with 200+ grit sandpaper. If the top is solid wood you could sand a little more if necessary. If it is veneer, be very careful not to sand through the top layer which could only be 1/32 of an inch thick. I would use a good high gloss polyurethyne for the finish with a minimum of 4 coats lightly sanding between coats to build up a good finish. I just stripped most of the woodwork in my boat and am refinishing it in the same manner I am recommending to you. Good Luck,
