Aluminium masts are typically anodized to prevent future corrosion.

Polishing it will remove the anodizing which will promote corrosion.

Dave, much appreciated input. I may have to look into a clear coat chemical anodize that I can apply on site.... I will take a look at the base aluminum alloy and see what it is. I'll report back on what all I find out and decide to do.

Wondering if Schaefer Spar was the same as Schaefer marine, I did s search and found this on rigrite website..
"Schaefer Spars and its' 075 section are now defunct,". Perhaps Rigrite might have some info for you.

Wow! I found tons of stuff on the Rigrite web site that is for my mast etc. I don't have the 075 section, thankfully, and the section type I do have is found in the Kenyon masts. They also appear to have the internal electrical wire slides, although there are no photos to be sure, and I am not understanding 100% the description of what they do have. But, it looks like they do actually have either the part or something that will work just like that part. Nice!
