Re-build kit for volvo MD-6

Hi group
Seems my compression is not what it should be.
Can't afford to replace with Beta so i'm going to try to rebuild.
Can anyone point me in the direction of bearings Main & rod ,rings etc
Thanks for all the advice in the past few weeks I wish it was that
simple.

Hi Gianni

Be prepared for a shock at teh price of a rebuild. Last time I enquired for the MD6A the parts were near to £1700 and that was in 1997 ! RK Marine quoted £3200 for supply and rebuild

Best place for spares in a firm called KEYPART in Watford in the UK

Any Volvo penta dealer should be able to get them for you, but you will
pay....I used Sound Marine Diesel in CT you can reach Joe DeMears at
860-666-2184 but consider that you will need to add shipping into any cost.
Mention my name, I am sure he will remember me but he typically will give a
discount of 5%. If you find a better deal please let me know I may need
more gaskets....

have you solved your problem yet, I'm sure you retorqued the head bolts after breakin.
When you removed the engine to do the rebuild did you have to disassamble the combi
reversing gear or jist remove the 4 allen bolts that mount it to engine ans slide it back.?
I going to pull the engine myself.

I did retourqe the head bolts, and I recently removed the head looking for
the problem and did not find the gasket to be the issue. I am now in the
process of having the head and exhaust manifold pressure checked to see if
that is the issue. The only thought I have left is either a crack in the
block or the head bolts that are not blind need to be sealed when installed.

As for removing the engine, I do not have a combie setup. I have a simple
prop and shaft with a flanged coupling that bolts to the back of the
transmission. I unbolted the flange and was able to lift the engine right
out.
