Re-bedding upper shroud chainplates.

I noticed some discoloration on the forward side of the port and starboard bulkheads that the upper shrouds attach to. The curtain tie-downs were also damp, a pretty good indication that there is some leakage from the upper shroud chainplates. Just wondering if anybody has re-bedded the upper shrouds and if there are any things I need to be aware of. I intend using "Bed-It" caulking material which should last nearly forever. I would appreciated any guidance.

The fix for leaky chain plates is pretty simple. Given what you described, what would concern me more is the structural integrity of the bulkheads where they connect.

Thanks to all, your posts are super helpful. I'm going to pull my Cat 22, Magic, out of the water next week as it is much easier to do the work while not rocking back and forth. Plus my spreader boots are coming loose and I need to secure them.
