The MD 7A I am using has a conventional transmission. I thought I could turn down that part of the shaft that goes through the bearing and stuffing box if necessary, and leave the rest at 1.0"; I need a new coupling at the gearbox anyway. However, this would require moving or removing the engine if I ever wanted to remove the shaft; Not a good idea. Better to buy a 25mm shaft.

Another thought I had was to lock the combi shafts together and use the combi shaft, gearbox and prop with the new transmission. The combi would then act as a fixed pitch prop.I will have another look at that.
