Try a nut splitter, any hardware store should have one. It slips over the
nut and by turning a stud on the side of it, drives a chisel poiint into the
side of the nut. The nut splits on one side and looses its grip on the bolt.
Very easy to remove afterwards. Walt, Lyric

Thanks Walt, never heard of such a beast. It's on my list first thing
tomorrow! There is a very limited amount of room behind some of the nuts.
I'm sure though that it will work on many of them.

Thanks Gentlemen,

I had never heard of a bolt splitter, however my wife who used to work in a
hardware store (That's Home Hardware for the Canucks) .

See... the answer isin't always "out there" sometimes the wife knows as
much as the Internet. :)-)

I would still be interested in knowing if this (rusted deck - to - hull
nuts) has occurred on Albin Vega's

The tool is round with a bolt thru the side with a very hard knife point--it fits over the nut-tighten enough to cut the nut just enough to weaken the nut to break it loose from the bolt--be careful not to damage bolt threads if you wish to re-use the bolt. Use the correct size spanner to tighten-as you will need lots of torque. jorgen
