Over ten years ago my timing gear bolt backed off causing the gears to
wobble, leading to the proverbial gnashing of teeth. At that time, I as unable to
locate replacement gears for less than $1000 + dollars and even then that was
only parts page prices. No one had any.
Replaced MD6A with the small Yanmar. But we did finish the trip to the
Bahammas but ate out only once in 8 weeks and had only one bottle of rum to last
that entire time. Now I would proably go with the Beta.
Suggest for help to others that a list of who/where replacement parts can be
obtained for MD6A.
Second the British in their Vega Spares catalogue list a replacement glass
system for 435 pounds(current exchange is $1.90) Looks like a good system. The
catalogue is dated 06-2001 so inflation has probalby reared it ugly head but
the money we save on the not buying a new boat can be be spent on keeping our
present boat the envy of all the dock-side jonnies.
