Chris, Do you have a tide where the boat is? If so, ride the tide. Anchor
when it changes direction if the bottom is so fouled that you can't make
headway. The 6hp should do 4 knots if the bottom is clean, spend a bit of
time with a mask, fins and a wide putty knife as a scraper before you go.
Welcome to the cult. Walt, Lyric #120
P.S. if the boat doesn't have GOOD ground tackle before you go, invest in
it. It's the best and cheapest insurance you will ever have for the boat.

Thanks for the info. Yes, the Chesapeake Bay is tidal so, I will take that into consideration.

You are the second person to mention either doing some scraping or hiring a diver. Don't know why I didn't think of it, myself. I'm going to look into hiring a diver to do some cleaning. I'd do it myself, but I'm in the process of studying for final exams. This is why I had to talk the marina manager into giving me three weeks to move the boat. He is rather anxious to have it go away. The only reason he capitulated is because there has been little response to his ad. After finals, I'll have to move the boat fairly quickly.

You have also seconded the 4 knot speed calculation using the 6 hp Yamaha. So this has encouraged me to use it as my power source, assuming the diver gives a favorable report. I will definitely get some ground tackle before making the journey. Stopping is good! I like to be able to stop :)
