Chuck: We just received the latest newsletter. It was
worth the wait. You and Laura did a fantastic job
which I'm sure is appreciated by all.
On the subject of the 2004 Pacific NW Rendezvous,
there was discussion amongst Brian, Diana, Mitzi,
Bear, Ken and I last fall about the rendezvous. I had
asked people at Pt. Browning last year how they felt
about a rendezvous in early Sept. Everyone seemed
favorable to the idea. The 6 of us also discussed
possible locations and came up with a suggestion of
Otter Bay on the west side of Pender Island, BC. I
haven't been there myself, but everyone else likes it.
It's a bit more upscale then Pt. Browning so we may
have to take an island taxi for the down and dirty
partying at the pub at Pt. Browning!!!
I'm putting this out for feedback on dates and places.
I would be happy to get all the contact information
and get the preliminary planning going once a date and
destination is decided. So everyone here's your chance
to put in your two cents worth.
AKVAVIT is snug under her winter tarp. Last week she
was covered with about 6 inches of snow!! I'm anxious
for April to be back out sailing on Puget Sound again.
I am, as always, suffering from mal de mere!!

Hey Judy:

Otter Bay would be fine by me. It is a great place that is well set
up with all the amenities. It is definately not as raunchy as Pt.
Browning but perhaps we need to tone down for awhile...Any
VEGAtarians wanting to bring children / grandchildren will be happy
to note that there is a nice pool, wide docks, trails etc. My only
wish is that we consider the August 1st weekend. This is a holiday
for Canadians and therefore, those individuals who are not on holiday
might be able to join us. I am willing to help as you know...It would
be timely for any others to comment as we need to decide soon in
order to reserve some spots.

Cheers

Thanks for the compliment Judy. On the Rendezvous Otter Bay sounds
good to me and early September is fine. I just thought it might be
good to continue alternating between Canadian and US ports. I suppose
it doesn't really mater though.

Speak up everyone! Opinions please

Chuck

Hi Judy:

Otter Bay works for me too. End of July beginning of August would be
a better date...sorry to be so picky....Monday,August 2nd. is a
holiday in Canada. I think (help me on this my US friends) that due
to the costs associated with the devalued Canadian dollar and the
fact that Diana and I were the only Canadian boat when we held it in
the US...concensus is leaning toward a Canadian meeting
place...Although it may be due to the fact that Judy caught all the
crabs in the San Juans and now has to come north to get a feed..

Cheers

The first weekend in August works for me, so would the first or second
weekend in September. I may have to make a special trip instead of
combining with business travel as in years past but that's OK. I am
in the process of putting together a Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous with
the help of one of the Albin Cruisers, Fred Hunt, via email. Let's
nail down the date for the North West VEGAtarians(tm) so we can
schedule the Chesapeake Bay Rendezvous on a date that will not conflict.

For you Easterners: we are discussing holding the Chesapeake Bay
Rendezvous either at Inner Harbor or Fells Point in Baltimore due to
the geographic concentration of AVA Members in the area and the
convenience for those that may not be able to bring their boats. Any
and all input concerning date, place or activities is welcome so don't
be shy. also it would be nice to hear some input concerning
attendance. How many of you will plan to attend the First Ever in
Recent Memory Chesapeake Bay (VODCA?) Rendezvous?

2004 is going to be a very big year.
