Yes, you're just around the bend! (... a lot of bends in these roads!) So you don't keep your boat in Crescent City--is that because of the tsunami damage to the marina, or has most of that been repaired? I know it was pretty much destroyed a few years ago. Or are there other reasons you prefer Brookings?

I've wondered if there would be enough NorCal Vegans for a San Francisco rendezvous. How many Vegas do you reckon there are from Monterey to Crescent City? And would you come that far south?

Hi Nathan, Our port is completely rebuilt after being COMPLETELY destroyed by the tsunami. Lyric is in Brookings because it is a nicer place to be. Slips are about half the price, locked gates and less of a low life presence. Both ports have a significant commercial fishing presence and Crescent City puts them first in accessibility on the docks. Brookings has two separate areas for the commercial and pleasure craft. There is some intermingling of the two. Brookings did take a considerable hit during the Tsunami (30 to 40% destroyed) and has also completely recovered. I'm sure that there are a number of other Vegas in the area and I think there would be enough interest for a rendezvous. My preference would be the Sacramento Delta. It's boater friendly and anchoring out is not a problem in most areas. It's also fresh water and warm enough for swimming. Marina slips in the bay area would probably be kind of costly. Judy and I are planning on making the pacific northwest next summer but I'd like to do both.
