  Trolling motor for reverse gear

All know about difficulties with steering the Vega when she’s in reverse gear. I am thinking if I"ll install trolling motor at Vega's stern like this one: COMAX | Haswing USA COMAX

My Vega's inboard diesel was past repair when I bought the boat.  I removed it and installed an outboard bracket and used an old 9.9 horsepower outboard engine.  When that motor got flukey, I put a cheap electric 55 pound thrust Minkota trolling motor on the bracket.  (It's not even salt-water rated, but I haven't had any trouble.)  It's not a lot of power--pushes me at just under 2 knots.  But it's wonderful for docking.  There's no starting the motor--just twist the handle--and I have total control.  I think it's a great solution.

I love this forum.  But I think it would be interesting to do a statistical analysis of how much of the discussion here is about problems with the inboard diesel, and how little discussion is about sailing our boats better.  It supposed to be an "auxiliary"--but it seems to cause most of the work of owning and sailing our boats.
