Since I'm at it I would also like to thank whoever it was that
reminded me, some time ago, about Erskine Childers "the Riddle of the
Sands". I had first read it nearly 30 years ago, by candle, while
living aboard a little gaff sloop. It was just as good this time
around. I will say that I am impressed by those of you who navigate
the waters of the "Sands".
Perhaps I should pass on another fine story. "The Starship and
Canoe" by Kenneth Brower. It is not a "Vega" book but worth looking
for; Alaska's inside passage, fathers and sons, kayaks, and yes, even
starships.
