We are looking for the dimensions for a whisker pole for our Vega, AKVAVIT. Does anyone use one. If so, where did you get it? Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Judy,
I use a pole that I made up from aluminum tubing. It is telescopic. The length is 3.5 meters. Diameter of the large tube is 50 mm. The small tube is slighter smaller than the inside diameter of the large one.

It works fine and I find it of great benefit when running off in light airs (up to 10 knots ) I use the spinnaker pole track and car on the inboard end.

Hi Judy: I'm using a Forespar 6-12 Adj. It works well with the jib, but
too short for the genoa. Forespar recommends the HD 7-17, which is heavier and
nicer, but lots more money. It would work with the genoa as well I got mine
as a "second" at West Marine (the end of a pop rivet is rolling around
inside - not a problem for me). Bill Bach V 1071

Hi Judy,

I scanned through the replies to your query and didn't see anyone
mention the recommended length for a non-adjustable pole. I asked my
sailmaker, "Fuzz", who told me to use the "J" measurement for the
length which, IIRC, is about 12'6". I am in the process of making a
wooden whisker pole for Lealea using a pair of bronze pole end
fittings I found at the swap meet for $25. I'll let you know how it
turns out.

Aloha,

Chuck

Hi, is the whisker pole length the same as the spinnaker pole, if so 3100mm is the official Vega class length. I hope this is of some help.
