Yeah, they're great fun to race but you MUST have at least two. A freind of mine who I've raced with for years has a pair. When we visit his house we love to go to the pond out back and stand on his dock and race them. You will need to set up a start line and weather mark. We used small balloons with a small weight. Great fun for an afternoon racing.

I would research that...seems a little steep. I have looked at them and remembered them being about a hundred.

I have two, a Soling and a Nirvana. Our YC races them on our lake and it's great fun after you figure out how tunable these boats are and how much skill can be employed to move them well. A stock, pre-constructed boat is the way to start, and then you can move up all the way to 12 meter RC models that are big. Enjoy.

I have this great little lake about 1/2 mile from my house and I want to get a RC Sail Boat.
This is one I am looking at:
Kyosho Fortune 612 II America's Cup RC Sailboat w/Radio

Could be fun for GrandPa and the GrandKIds.

Thanks for your input in advance.
I've build 3 Kyosho boats. Great kits and great fun. My brother, Dad, and myself had many fun years with them. Even sailed them in the salt water canals around Cape Coral. We used large fishing bobbers (the tall, narrow ones) with weighted lines attached and would set up many different types of courses. An egg timer for starting line countdowns builds the tension.

Spent many complete afternoons (and lots of AA batteries) with great laughs. Taught me alot about rig tuning for different conditions. Much easier to experiment on the models. I won alot of races b/c I would bring my boat in, spend 2 minutes changing the rig for the conditions and then heading back out while they were sailing up and down the course waiting for the start. Had about an 8th mile solid range..much more than that and you lose sight of what your inputs are.

If you are going to race with others make sure you all have different radio channels! Have fun! My boat sits in Dad's garage in Florida just waiting for the next race.
