"RC Marine" Winches... are they reasonably useful?

My boat has composite sheet winches installed that are manufactured by RC Marine from New Zealand.... they seem to be POS models, but hopefully with some insight from someone who has had experience with them, I will be able to see they arent the POS models and that they could be depended upon to hang together if I should load them up. are there any diagrams or write-ups on how they should be serviced?
I had Lewmar winches on my last boat and these dont begin to compare.....

They don't compare in price, either. They're remarkably simple and easy to rehab. As far as "loading them up" goes, I've been hove to in >20 kts, with a fully unfurled 150%, and no breakage.

Yet!

Can you provide a link? All I keep finding is Radio Control stuff :doh:

Not sure of the brand, but my grandads trimaran had sheet winches that were glass reinforced nylon, I think. Just the drum though. Still in use now, 20 some years later by the new owner. Keep 'em greased is all I know to do on any winches ;)

Most likely gone the way of the dodo. A light oil is recommended for the pawls.
