anyone chnge out the small battery inside a raystar125 GPS sensor
how hard is it to do?

Super easy project. Pretty sure it requires a 2032 battery. My application was flush mounted on the deck, so it might be a good idea to purchase a new sticky foam gasket between the puck and deck. I got mine on Amazon but you could also make your own gasket using sticky foam sheets.

Will have to check mine.
Thought that it was powered by DC from the chart plotter. If there is a battery inside of the GPS, I wouldn't want it to corrode and damage the GPS circuitry. Any idea of how often the battery should be replaced?

OK, answering my own question. Apparently the internal battery allows the RAM to hold its contents (last known fix) after 12volt power is removed from the unit. I am just concerned that the battery leaks into the circuitry and damages it.

Well, you learn something new every day...
I had no idea that there was a battery in that thing. No wonder it was slow to boot.
The manual certainly doesn't indicate that there is a replaceable battery.
Another task for spring.

I did it last year and posted something on how to do it. Probably in the archives somewhere. It was very easy to do. Just remember to make sure the unit is watertight when resealing.
