I have a used ST 60 wind vane and instrument which I would like to install while my mast is down, however the cable that came with it is too short. I don't need a new transducer and I can only find the cable for sale with the transducer. Is there another cable that would be suitable - I can make the splices weathertight and inside the mast.

Count the conductors, note the wire gauge and find a cable with the same attributes. You can splice the cable with crimp connectors. You need a stranded wire type. Try burglar alarm cable.

I assume I need cable with a shield like the original?

Call your local Raymarine dealer! They remove a lot of old to install the new type.

Yes, you need a shield as that is part of the circuit. Be sure to connect the shields at both ends of the spliced in wire.
